In keeping with its role as
a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer
center, Roswell Park Cancer Institute offers the most effective
means of diagnosis and treatment. The Flow Cytometry Resource,
initiated at RPCI in 1988, provides multiparameter
flow cytometry services for clinical diagnosis and follow-up
to basic and clinical research investigators, carries out
an educational outreach program in flow cytometry, and
develops new applications and instrumentation.
Qualifications
Current college student majoring in Medical Technology, Biology or an equivalent degree program. Able to maintain all HIPAA regulations including strict patient confidentiality. Self motivated and able to multi-task. Able to obtain transportation to and from the Institute. Capable of working flexible hours.
Volunteer
Responsibilities
Responible for helping to maintain the productivity of the clinical flow cytometry lab. Duties inclde, but are not limited to, making necessary laboratory chemicals and solutions, filing clinical and research reports and pulling patient charts. When time and schedule, allow, the volunteer will be introduced to basic laboratory skills and flow cytometry fundamentals.
