2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember number that connects people who want to give help or get help with a full range of local resources in their communities. In establishing 2-1-1, Central Referral Services Inc. has joined a growing national movement to standardize the availability of information and referral for these services. Services can be accessed by dialing 2-1-1 or going online to www.211wny.org. 2-1-1/WNY maintains a database of over 9000 resources including agency contact information, services and Government programs. 2-1-1 also provides assistance during times of natural and other disasters, including accurate and timely information for preparations, and longer term referral for follow-up services, if required. In addition, 2-1-1 also provides valuable information for community planning and for future matching of resources and unmet needs.
